Bearings:
Bearings are a key necessity to machinery movement. But did you know that all bearings are not the same?
Sure the O.D. and the I.D. May be alike, but did you know that depending on application, speed, and stress load of the bearing depends on the material of bearing.
For instance on a high speed CNC spindle application most machine manufactures use a ceramic style bearing either roller or ball bearing. This allows the CNC machine to turn at a very high speed without breaking down the bearing while maintaining speed and accuracy.
Some other common bearings used in gearboxes, drivelines, and conveyor applications are. Taper bearing, Flange Bearings, Needle Bearings, and a variety of races and Pillar Blocks to support the bearings.
Gearbox:
Gearboxes are essential to industrial world and automotive world alike.
With out gearboxes we would not be able to effectively mechanically speed or reduce speed of machinery such as conveyors, Swing arms, and driveline components.
Some terms in gearbox terms you may be familiar with are Gear Reducer, Speed Varying, and Torque Gearbox.
Pumps:
Pumps are crucial to everyday lean manufacturing, with the assistance of pumps machines can automatically be set up to produce hydraulic pressure, where it needs to be distributed. Some pumps such as rotary or piston pumps allow for chemicals, and low volume pressures to be applied with out the risk of high head pressure from the pump its self.
Also there are diaphragm pumps that allow for air to move a piston inside the pump which the piston is moving the outside diaphragms which generate a vacuum on one side and a pressure on the exhaust side.
Other pumps require motors to generate a high head pressure that in turns large amounts of force on the exhaust side and a high volume of pressure.
PLC’s:
PLC units or programmable logic controllers allow modern manufacturers to automate machines to cut cost on overhead.
By adding PLC’s such as Allen Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi PLC’s it requires less human effort to do the same job as many human interactions.
Thus generating less overhead due to savings on salary and benefits and automated machines do not require breaks or lunch’s.
